The Blazing World: A New History of Revolutionary England
Kellogg is delighted to host this talk by College Fellow Jonathan Healey, about his new book, The Blazing World: A New History of Revolutionary England.

Jonathan Healey is a seventeenth-century historian, who works at Oxford University’s Department for Continuing Education where he teaches social and local history. He completed his doctorate in 2008 at Magdalen College, and has worked in Oxford since 2009, where he specialises in early modern social history, particularly the history of the poor, the legal system, and the English Civil War.

Listed by The Times as one of the Best Books of 2023 (so far), The Blazing World, his history of seventeenth century England, is his second book. It tells the story of a country wracked by political instability, religious conflict and eventually civil war and revolution, but also going through subtle but profound social change.

The talk will be chaired by Kellogg Fellow Tara Stubbs

This event is free and open to all.

Refreshments will be served from 17:00, followed by the talk at 17:30, and then a Q&A session. There will be a drinks reception at 18:15, and there maybe an opportunity to purchase a copy of the book.

This event will be filmed. Please let the staff know if you do not wish to be in the footage.
