Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. The two-week OxTalks freeze period starts on Monday 2nd March. During this time, there will be no facility to publish or edit events. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period. This seminar by Dr Mohammad Fadel explores the intersections between the Islamic tradition of reflection on justice and the modern liberal tradition. Can and should committed Muslims endorse liberalism as a governing philosophy, or as a modus vivendi, and what are the implications for both faith communities and wider society of either approach? Dr Fadel’s work on Islam and public reason has set a research agenda for these questions, and we look forward to hearing from him in a lively and interactive seminar.
