Sustainable Drainage Systems: urban and rural applications

Chris Uttley, Rural SuDS Project Officer, Stroud District Council: “The Stroud Rural Sustainable Drainage Project: three years of natural flood management in the Stroud Valleys”
Chris will describe the implementation of natural flood management within the 260 km catchment of the Stroud River Frome. In particular, he will cover how the project works with local landowners and community groups, what the project is building, the evidence, and the lessons learned so far.
Joshua Arnott, Environmental Scientist, Atkins: “Using SuDS Studio™ to map retrofit opportunities in urban spaces”
Josh will introduce SuDS Studio™, a GIS application to identify opportunities for retrofitting sustainable drainage systems in urban and semi-urban environments. Josh will cover how the Tool was developed, its application for the Greater London Authority and Thames Water, and the SuDS solutions generated for each location examined.
