Benefits of Boredom

Could boredom actually be good for you? Come join us for a delightful evening to find out by exploring what happens in your brain when you let your mind wander! The St Edmund Hall Centre for the Creative Brain invites you to our termly event, “The Benefits of Boredom”. Dr Sandi Mann from the University of Central Lancashire will explain why boredom is an important emotion, enabling our creative thinking. Leland Carlson, the Founder of the Dull Men’s Club, will give a talk about the joy that comes from appreciating everyday things and some of the eccentricities of the Club’s members. The event will end with a talk by Dr Helen Barron from the University of Oxford, who will discuss how memories are stored in the brain and what happens when memories are retrieved.
Drinks will be served after the talks.
