How can psychology make healthcare safer?: A half-day interdisciplinary seminar for early career researchers
Advance booking essential
Healthcare has considerable benefits but many patients can also experience avoidable harms as a result of failings in the system itself. We know that healthcare is falling below standards from over a decade of research on medical error and harm, a series of high-profile cases of failure, such as Mid-Staffordshire, and important governmental inquiries like the Berwick Report and the Francis Inquiry. Psychologists have so far played a relatively small role in improving healthcare, but the potential role of psychology is considerable.

We invite early career researchers to join us for a half-day seminar that will address the following questions:

* How can we use psychological knowledge and methods to improve healthcare?

* What are the opportunities and challenges for early career researchers wanting to work in this field?

There will be a strong focus on networking and the event will include a discussion panel where you ask your questions about career progression, challenges working as a research psychologist in medical settings, and much more.
