From research to policy: engaging the UK Parliament
As part of the Oxford Policy Engagement Network Showcase 2022, the Big Data Institute will be hosting a masterclass and networking lunch researchers, doctoral students and professional services staff at the University who are looking to find out more about engaging with the UK Parliament.
Joined by special guests from Westminster, Dr Caroline Wood will provide an introduction to the main ways research is used in Parliament, including by the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST) and Select Committees, and facilitate a masterclass on writing for a parliamentary audience. There will also be time for informal networking over lunch.
Whatever your level of experience, this is a great opportunity
To improve (or refresh) your understanding of the key ‘docking points’ for research and researchers in Parliament, including through exploring case studies;
To broaden your communication skills and practice these in interactive activities; and
To build your network with others at Oxford who share your interest in policy engagement
