Developing a Novel Hazardous Flood Vulnerability Index
As floods globally increase in magnitude and frequency, there is increasing concern over the proximity of toxic sites to high flood risk areas. This talk covers the existence of, and risks associated with, toxic sites and hazardous floods and the need for a novel hazardous flood vulnerability index to determine/identify vulnerable communities. It will also delve into the GIS/remote sensing and environmental justice methodology and reasoning behind the proposed creation of the index and its applicability in the United States and around the world.
