Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. The two-week OxTalks freeze period starts on Monday 2nd March. During this time, there will be no facility to publish or edit events. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period. Joonas Sildre is a brilliant comic artist from Estonia. As well as authoring and illustrating many children’s books and teaching comic art, he spent five years researching, writing, and drawing Kahe heli vahel (Between Two Sounds), a biographical graphic novel that imaginatively reveals Pärt’s musical and personal development from childhood up to 1980 when his family was forced to leave Estonia.
This session explores Joonas’s work, through discussion with the artist, and a presentation of images from Between Two Sounds, accompanied by pianist Lucie Tenet performing Pärt’s Für Alina and Partita. A musical, visual and intellectual feast!
