Mapping gradients in brain organization
In our upcoming BDI Machine Learning seminar, we’re thrilled to welcome Daniel S. Margulies, Integrative Neuroscience & Cognition Center, University of Paris / CNRS, & Wellcome Centre for Integrative Neuroimaging Oxford. We’re delighted to host Daniel in what promises to be a great talk!
Date: Wednesday 11 December
Time: 13:00 – 14:00
Talk title: Mapping gradients in brain organization
Location: BDI/OxPop Seminar room 1
Abstract: I will present an overview of various recent approaches for characterizing large-scale variation in features of the cerebral cortex. Described as ‘cortical gradients’, and based predominantly on data-driven decomposition approaches, these methods have enabled the description of cortical hierarchies as well as applications to mapping inter-individual differences and cross-species comparative anatomy. Nevertheless, methodological challenges persist both in the interpretation and analysis of cortical gradients, which will be discussed in the context of these recent findings.
