OxTalks is Changing
OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.

Rainbow Bridges: Chinese Queer Short Films Showcase

This screening brings together three short films by emerging Chinese queer filmmakers, showcasing the rich diversity and critical reflections within contemporary Sino-queer cinema. These films illuminate the unique experiences of queer communities and the infinite possibilities of gender fluidity. They invite the audience to move beyond external scrutiny, approaching the essentials of queer experiences with empathy and discovering resonance within difference.
These films invite audiences to re-examine the often-overlooked experiences and mental burdens of Chinese queer individuals in mainstream society, advocating for a deeper understanding of diverse identities. Despite the invisible pressures they face, the queer protagonists remain resolute in their sense of self. Through these films, the transformative power of inclusion, love, and support is conveyed, inspiring viewers to carry this strength forward and extend it to others. Let every ‘uniqueness’ find its rightful belonging in the real world.
The film screening lasts 84 minutes, followed by a Q&A discussion. We warmly invite all from diverse backgrounds to join this exploration of queer identities and cultural production in Sinosphere cinema.
