Symposium: Materials and Technologies in the Age of Transition: The Byzantine, Sasanian and Islamic Near East
The symposium aims to bring together the perspectives of materials scientists and art historians on the transition from late antiquity to Islam. The programme will include panels on Glass, Ceramics, Metallurgy, Mining and Stonework, Manuscripts and Textile.

Speakers and panel chairs will include Anna Muthesius, Brian Gilmour, Oliver Watson, St John Simpson, Matthew Collins, Moujan Matin, Seth Priestmann, Alain George, Nadine Schibille, Matthew Ponting, Elise Morero and Hero Granger-Taylor.
