OxTalks is Changing
Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. From now until the launch of Oxford Events, new events cannot be published or edited on OxTalks while all existing records are migrated to the new platform. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period.
From 16th, Oxford Events will launch on a new website: events.ox.ac.uk, and event submissions will resume. You will need a Halo login to submit events. Full details are available on the Staff Gateway.
The Law and the Right to Care in Old Age

This ‘conversation’ problematizes the role and contribution of the law in a context of talk of a “crisis in care” in relation to older people. It first sets out the legal situation, identifying the role of law and human rights in ensuring a decent standard of care in old age. However, the use of law to ensure rights to a decent standard of care is not a panacea. The law sets down minimum standards, not the standards to which we should aspire. The presentation goes on to consider other elements of an appropriate and effective response to protecting the rights and interests of older people regarding care.
The presentation will be given by Jonathan Herring, DM Wolfe-Clarendon Fellow and Tutor in Law, Exeter College, University of Oxford, and will be followed by an open discussion.
