OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.
If staff have any questions about the Oxford Events launch, please contact halo@digital.ox.ac.uk
Theatre and the Archive
12.30-3pm Friday 17 February 2023 (week 5)
Amersi Lecture Room, Staircase XI, Brasenose College
The Reimagining Performance Network is pleased to host an afternoon of talks and discussion on the topic of ‘Theatre and the Archive’. We are delighted to welcome Dr Ulla Kallenbach from the University of Bergen, who will open the session by sharing her research on ‘Transnational traces in the material and digital archive’. Billy Barrett and Ellice Stevens from the acclaimed Breach Theatre will speak next about their new production After the Act, a documentary musical about the last 20 years since the repeal of the Section 28 law which prohibited the ‘promotion’ of homosexuality in schools. For the last hour, there will be a roundtable discussion to consider how archival materials have informed, enriched or challenged research. The panel will feature Oxford faculty members Emma Smith, David Taylor, Sos Eltis, Tom Kuhn and Rebecca Beasley.
All are welcome – Faculty members, students, and general theatre enthusiasts! A light lunch will be provided. For the sake of catering, please could you RSVP to Tzen Sam at tzen.sam@jesus.ox.ac.uk if you are attending (but all welcome on the day, whether you have RSVPed or not).
