*CDL research group seminar series* Key messages from the Alex Timpson Attachment and Trauma Awareness in Schools Programme
Part of: Child Development and Learning – Seminar Programme MT22
The Alex Timpson Attachment and Trauma Awareness in Schools Programme is a five-year research programme led by the Rees Centre to explore the impact of ‘whole school’ attachment and trauma awareness training on experiences and outcomes for vulnerable young people. The Programme, which ran from 2017 until June this year, has involved 305 schools from 26 local authority areas across England. The Rees Centre employed a mixed methods approach, using online questionnaires, interviews with staff, focus groups of young people and training observations to review the Programme. We will be presenting some of the key findings from the study around Programme implementation and its impact as perceived by school staff and children. We will also outline some of the challenges faced by the research team throughout the project, including the impact of Covid-19 on the research plan.
