Understanding the global biogeography and ecology of dryland soil microbes under climate change
Substantial research efforts have been devoted in the last decades to understand the factors affecting the distribution and physiology of soil microbial communities. However, most of this research has been carried out either in the lab or in the field but at small spatial scales. In this lecture I will summarize the results of recent and ongoing studies evaluating the global biogeography of soil microbial communities and the responses of both these communities and of associated ecosystem processes to major climate change drivers.
