Lord (Jack) McConnell was First Minister of Scotland, 2001–07. He has been a Member of the House of Lords since 2010. He is a leading campagner on tackling global poverty and working for peace.
He is the chair of Reform Scotland, Scotland’s leading think tank, which works to promote increased prosperity, a positive climate for entrepreneurs and innovators, reform and modernisation of public services, a widening of opportunity for all, compassion for those who slip through the cracks, and greater courage and appetite for risk among policy-makers.
