Seeing from above: Using satellites for development research and policy insight

Developing countries face intertwined economic, political, and climate challenges but lack reliable data, limiting effective policies. However, advances in technology, satellites, geospatial intelligence, and AI offer new ways to measure socio-economic dynamics even in data-scarce contexts. In her talk “Seeing from above: Using satellites for development research and policy insight”, Samira Barzon of the Environmental Change Institute will explore how these innovations can enhance transparency and data-driven policymaking for development.
