OxTalks will soon be transitioning to Oxford Events (full details are available on the Staff Gateway). A two-week publishing freeze is expected to start before the end of Hilary Term to allow all future events to be migrated to the new platform. During this period, you will not be able to submit or edit events on OxTalks. The exact freeze dates will be confirmed on the Staff Gateway and via email to identified OxTalks users.

Dear all,
Developing countries face intertwined economic, political, and climate challenges but lack reliable data, limiting effective policies. However, advances in technology, satellites, geospatial intelligence, and AI offer new ways to measure socio-economic dynamics even in data-scarce contexts. In her talk “Seeing from above: Using satellites for development research and policy insight”, Samira Barzon of the Environmental Change Institute will explore how these innovations can enhance transparency and data-driven policymaking for development.
