Using anthropological approaches to inform and analyse policies
Dr Rachel Bray is a cultural and medical anthropologist who has worked in as diverse contexts as Nepal and South
Africa. Her special expertise is on participatory research in particularly on child development, family support, poverty,
youth and transitions to adulthood and broadly public policy.

Rachel is going to reflect on her research experience as anthropologist, and the potential for furthering intersections
with social policy and intervention research.

The DSPI MethodsHub seminars showcase the opportunities different methodologies and research traditions offer for
the investigation of policies, interventions and evaluation. As such researchers and students are invited to discuss the
relationship of their approaches in contrast to the one presented.
