Working in low & middle income countries (LMICs) presents an exciting and fulfilling option for many health researchers. It allows them to address some of the most pressing development issues through interdisciplinary, collaborative and impact-driven research. Global health research, however, takes place in very particular contexts and this gives rise to unique moral dilemmas that require going beyond the traditional approaches to ethics used in high income settings. Through practical examples, this workshop will explore some of these ethical challenges and the approaches that might be needed when engaging in global development research. It will give those attending a feeling for the issues and difficulties faced by researchers in the field and some tips to avoid common pitfalls.
Workshop for all those interested in global health research
