Making policies and markets benefit forest communities: participatory forest management in Ethiopia
Dr Mulugeta Lemenih, Farm Africa’s Head of Forestry and Natural Resource Management, will discuss how participatory forest management could transform the lives of forest-dependent communities in Ethiopia. He will focus on:


payments for carbon stocks under the REDD+ scheme
business development
trading in timber and non-timber forest products such as wild coffee, honey and frankincense


Dr Mulugeta Lemenih has extensive expertise in NRM including forest development; Participatory Forest Management; carbon forestry (REDD+ project design, feasibility analysis, safeguards and MRV); payment for ecosystem services and watershed/soil management. He is responsible for guiding and implementing forestry projects and advising Farm Africa more broadly on NRM related development.
