The Middle East Security Society invites you to a conversation with Nicholas Taylor, Senior Research Fellow at RAND Europe and King’s College London, and former Senior Principal at the UK Ministry of Defence. With over two decades of experience in defence strategy, regional security analysis, and international engagement, Nicholas has worked alongside a range of governmental and international partners, including US Strategic Command and NATO.
In this session, Nicholas will reflect on the evolving security landscape across the Middle East, touching on regional power competition, the impact of non-state armed groups, and the strategic challenges posed by protracted conflicts. Drawing on his professional experience, he will discuss how states and international actors navigate complex political, social, and security environments in contexts such as Iran, Syria, the rise of Da’esh, and the conflict in Yemen.
Attendees will gain a nuanced perspective on key dynamics shaping the region today, as well as an understanding of how different actors respond to shifting security realities.
