OxTalks is Changing
OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.
If staff have any questions about the Oxford Events launch, please contact halo@digital.ox.ac.uk
Book Launch: The Politics of Borders
Matthew Longo will be discussing his book, ‘The Politics of Borders: Sovereignty, Security, and the Citizen after 9/11’, recently published by Cambridge University Press. The event will be chaired by Kalypso Nicolaïdis, Professor of International Relations, Director of the Centre for International Studies, and Faculty Fellow, St Antony’s College.
Border security is an obsession of our time. Why is this true and why does it matter? This book offers an in-depth look at border security in the US and worldwide after 9/11. The book contributes to debates within political science on sovereignty, citizenship, cosmopolitanism, big data, new security technologies, human rights and global justice.
