Is dieting worth it?
January is peak season for dieting. Almost half of adults polled last year had set a New Year resolution to lose weight. But few of these good intentions last, because dieting is hard work. While most of us struggle to balance all the other demands in our busy lives it’s reasonable to ask if dieting is really worth it.

Professor Susan Jebb will address this question based on research conducted in the Oxford NIHR Biomedical Research Centre. Her talk will explain new research which shows that doctors could help more people to successfully lose weight and the latest thinking on crash diets. She will also examine the evidence on the health benefits of losing weight and why even short-term diets may be good for you in the long-term.

Whatever your views about dieting, come and discuss the issues in this special talk as part of Obesity Awareness Week
