On 28th November OxTalks will move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events' (full details are available on the Staff Gateway).
There will be an OxTalks freeze beginning on Friday 14th November. This means you will need to publish any of your known events to OxTalks by then as there will be no facility to publish or edit events in that fortnight. During the freeze, all events will be migrated to the new Oxford Events site. It will still be possible to view events on OxTalks during this time.

How is artificial intelligence reshaping the sound of tomorrow – and what does it mean for the future of K-Pop in an increasingly digital world?
Join us for a special event featuring one of Korea’s most influential composers and music producers, Professor Hyung-Suk Kim (Academic Visitor at Kellogg College), in conversation with Professor Jieun Kiaer (Professor of Korean Linguistics, University of Oxford), a leading expert in Korean language and culture. Together, they’ll explore how artificial intelligence is transforming music, creativity, and cultural storytelling.
With a legacy that includes over 1,400 songs and a central role in the rise of figures like JY Park and Bang Si-Hyuk (HYBE), Kim has long been a driving force in the Korean pop industry. Now undertaking academic research into AI influences in the arts, Kim and Kiaer will discuss how K-Pop – once seen as a regional phenomenon – has become a powerful global cultural force. As AI tools are used to reshape musical composition and production, this conversation will seek to unpack the creative opportunities and ethical questions emerging at the intersection of music, technology, and education.
From virtual idols to algorithmic song writing, this event will offer rare insight into the evolving landscape of Korean pop and its place in the future of global music.
A drinks reception will be held at 6pm, immediately following the event.
Free and open to all.
Open to: Members of Kellogg College, the public,
