Presenting and interviewing on camera for researchers
Researchers: are you preparing for online job interviews or conference presentations? Would you like to learn how to overcome the challenges of interviewing and presenting virtually? This workshop covers unique issues of communicating via video conferencing platforms, with a particular focus on three key problem areas when compared with conventional in-person conversation: loss of personality, loss of clarity, and a distracted audience. Solutions will then be offered across three areas: how to frame one’s picture, how to use one’s body, and how to use one’s voice, and participants are given opportunities to practice these skills in the workshop. This is an interactive workshop, and participants will be expected to engage with all activities!

Workshop attendees will have an opportunity to book a 20 minute 1 to 1 appointment with the workshop leader on 12 May (14:00 – 17:00), where they can practice their research pitch and receive feedback. Places will be limited. Booking will be available after the workshop and will be on a first come first served basis.

This workshop is open to current Oxford DPhil students and researchers only.
