The digital revolution marks a profound transformation of society, on par with the great general purpose technologies of the past two centuries: the steam engine, internal combustion engine, and electrification. Each reshaped the economy, nature of work, geography of human settlements, and politics. So too is the digital revolution reshaping 21st century society. Professor Jeffrey D. Sachs’ talk will focus on the basic economics of the digital revolution and the implications for jobs and the distribution of income.
