OxTalks is Changing
Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. From now until the launch of Oxford Events, new events cannot be published or edited on OxTalks while all existing records are migrated to the new platform. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period.
From 16th, Oxford Events will launch on a new website: events.ox.ac.uk, and event submissions will resume. You will need a Halo login to submit events. Full details are available on the Staff Gateway.
Against the organisation of assisted death
The first Oakeshott Lecture of 2025: Professor Kathleen Stock on assisted dying, freedom, and mercy
In the first Oakeshott Lecture of 2025, Prof Kathleen Stock addresses the debate on assisted dying.
Author of four major books and countless articles, Kathleen Stock is a distinguished philosopher of aesthetics who was honoured with an OBE in 2021. Formerly a professor at Sussex University, she came to public prominence in 2021, when a cancellation campaign aimed at her position on trans rights led to her resignation. Her case has since become a major belleweather of academic freedom in British universities.
After her lecture, Prof Stock will be joined by journalist Dan Hitchens for a live discussion.
