The seminar describes how an online research community was used to explore the reasons between inequalities in cancer patient experiences and outcomes among LGBT, BAME and older (aged 65 to 90) people living with cancer. The case study involved 90 people living with cancer, together with 24 experts (healthcare professionals, academics, diversity specialists) over a period of two months, to take part in 70 research activities. The seminar also considers some key differences between social life online and offline; differences in the research process online and offline; success factors when planning and delivering online research projects, as well as ethical considerations.
