OxTalks is Changing
Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. From now until the launch of Oxford Events, new events cannot be published or edited on OxTalks while all existing records are migrated to the new platform. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period.
From 16th, Oxford Events will launch on a new website: events.ox.ac.uk, and event submissions will resume. You will need a Halo login to submit events. Full details are available on the Staff Gateway.
Samaaj, Sarkaar, Bazaar: A citizen-first approach
In this workshop, author and philanthropist Rohini Nilekani will discuss why it is important for the state, market and society to work together to create an equitable society. Rohini will give an overview of the Samaaj-first philosophy, which has guided her civic involvement and personal philanthropy for the past three decades. Through illustrations and examples, she will nudge the audience to critically examine their role as citizens to explore how we can all be more active in creating a strong and just society.
Rohini Nilekani has been a strong influence in the Indian social sector over the past three decades. Her philanthropic work spans different sectors of Indian civil society. She founded Arghyam, a foundation for sustainable water and sanitation, and co-founded Pratham Books, nonprofit enabling access to reading for millions of children. Currently, she is the Chairperson of Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies and a Co-founder and Director of EkStep, a nonprofit education platform. Rohini and her husband, Nandan Nilekani, are signatories to the Giving Pledge, pledging to give away half of their wealth to philanthropy.
