OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.
If staff have any questions about the Oxford Events launch, please contact halo@digital.ox.ac.uk
The Global Economic Governance (GEG) Programme and the Blavatnik School of Governance at the University of Oxford are pleased to invite you to the GEG Annual Lecture, to be delivered by Christiana Figueres, Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) at 4pm on Monday 26 October 2015 at the Examination Schools, Oxford.
The lecture, entitled The Imperative of a Global Climate Deal, comes on the eve of COP21, the global climate conference at which 196 countries will meet in Paris to discuss a new agreement on climate change.
This will be Ms Figueres’ only public speaking engagement in the UK before the Paris summit, and so offers a unique opportunity to engage with a key figure at a decisive moment in the negotiations process. Ms Figueres will emphasize the imperative for decisive action and provide an overview of the current status of the negotiations.
We very much hope that you can join us for what promises to be a timely and thought-provoking intervention in ongoing policymaking efforts to combat climate change.
