OxTalks will soon be transitioning to Oxford Events (full details are available on the Staff Gateway). Hotelling Competition, Market Shares, and the Gamma Distribution
For any symmetric equilibrium of Hotelling’s pure location game I show that as the number of firms becomes large, the distribution of market shares becomes a Gamma(2; 2) regardless of the distribution of consumers.
