Human Antibody Responses to SARS-CoV-2: Personal and Public

We are pleased to host Dr Scott Boyd, who will be presenting his talk, “Human Antibody Responses to SARS-CoV-2: Personal and Public.” Dr Boyd is a physician scientist, Associate Professor of Pathology, and Endowed Faculty Scholar in Allergy and Immunology at Stanford University. He is a recipient of the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers and the Rhodes Scholarship, among other honors, and has consulted as an expert witness in patent disputes related to antibody technologies and antibody drugs. His research focuses on human immune responses to infection and vaccination, as well as immunological disorders such as food allergy and immunodeficiency. On 6 April, Dr Boyd and his team at Stanford Medicine launched a new serology test to detect antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 from blood samples. This test is being implemented at Stanford Health Care to test healthcare workers in the hospital and is crucial in understanding the immune response against SARS-CoV-2, as well as the spread of COVID-19 in the general population.
