MEGA part 4: Decarbonising Industry
All good things must come to an end. The MEGA finale this Thursday will explore industry, a sector responsible for about a quarter of global emissions, and regarded as hard-to-decarbonise because of its energy intensity. This week’s speakers are both working to decarbonise industry.
Richard Jackson is Director of Standard Gas, who are converting non-recyclable waste into gas and biochar, which can provide carbon-efficient inputs to manufacturing, agriculture and construction. Professor Yulong Ding is the Founder of PeroCycle, a spin-out from Birmingham University, who are eliminating CO2 emissions from steel-making. Yulong is a prolific inventor with over 100 patents and recognised with many awards including Royal Academy Fellowship. The Q&A will be led by Professor Cameron Hepburn, one of Oxford’s most prominent environmental economists, and founder of three green finance companies. So join us this Thursday at 5:30pm to make our series finale the most mega MEGA – it’s now or never. There will be a Bacchanalia of organic wine, with the official MEGA Afterparty following the talk until 7:30pm.
