OxTalks is Changing
OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.
If staff have any questions about the Oxford Events launch, please contact halo@digital.ox.ac.uk
Implementing the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA) - Part of Open Access Oxford Week 2020
The University has a new set of Principles to promote the responsible use of research metrics at Oxford. The Wellcome has a new Open Access policy from 1 Jan 2021 which requires Wellcome-funded organisations to sign or publicly commit to the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA), or an equivalent. DORA is about using the intrinsic merit of a research publication when making promotion and tenure decisions, not the title of the journal or publisher. The European Commission have set up an expert group on researchers’ engagement with open science and its impacts. We will find out about DORA and what’s happening at Oxford and the Wellcome, discuss the open science indicators report and what these mean in practice for our researchers.
