OxTalks is Changing
OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.

Upregulation of long non-coding RNA NEAT1 and paraspeckles by lysosomal stress
Abstract:
NEAT1 is a highly abundant long non-coding RNA that is an essential scaffold for the assembly of a class of nuclear ribonucleoprotein bodies called paraspeckles. Paraspeckles formation is elevated by a wide variety of cellular stressors and modulate cellular processes by sequestering proteins or RNA molecules. Importantly, abnormal NEAT1 expression is associated with serious diseases such as neurodegenerative disorders and cancer. In this talk I will present data suggesting a crosstalk between paraspeckles and lysosomes, which might be relevant in human pathologies.
