OxTalks is Changing
OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.
If staff have any questions about the Oxford Events launch, please contact halo@digital.ox.ac.uk
Rochona Majumdar on "Postcolonialism: History and Theory"
What is the relationship between postcolonial theory and history? How does the climate crisis inform our understanding of postcolonial experiences? Join us for an introduction to key areas of debate in postcolonial theory; the benefits and shortcomings of this field, the differences between decolonising and post-colonial history and, crucially, the relationship between postcolonialism and climate change.
Rochona Majumdar is an Associate Professor and historian of modern India at Chicago University. Majumdar specialises in postcolonial theory as well as gender and sexuality, cinema and intellectual history. She is the author of “Writing Postcolonial History” and has worked with Dipesh Chakrabarty on postcolonial transitions in India and Pakistan.
