OxTalks is Changing
Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. From now until the launch of Oxford Events, new events cannot be published or edited on OxTalks while all existing records are migrated to the new platform. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period.
From 16th, Oxford Events will launch on a new website: events.ox.ac.uk, and event submissions will resume. You will need a Halo login to submit events. Full details are available on the Staff Gateway.
Astor Lectureship presented by Prof Michael Hanemann "Environmental Markets: the Good, Bad and Ugly"

We are thrilled to announce an Astor Visiting Lectureship in “Environmental Markets” by Prof Michael Hanemann from USA hosted by the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment.
Economists tend to see the establishment of marketing – whether for water, pollution emissions, or the right to harvest fish or other resources – as unambiguously superior to other forms of regulation. Some non-economists see marketing as inherently objectionable. Both views are simplistic. They overlook the legal, political and social factors that – together with economic considerations – determine how well something is amenable to marketing. The history and future of environmental markets is assessed in that light.
Michael Hanemann is Wrigley Professor of Sustainability in the Department of Economics at Arizona State University, and Chancellor’s Professor Emeritus in the Department of Agricultural & Resource Economics at the University of California, Berkeley. An Oxford PPE graduate, he is a member of the US National Academy of Sciences and a Fellow of the Association of Environmental & Resource Economists and also the European Association of Environmental & Resource Economists.
