OxTalks will soon be transitioning to Oxford Events (full details are available on the Staff Gateway). A two-week publishing freeze is expected to start before the end of Hilary Term to allow all future events to be migrated to the new platform. During this period, you will not be able to submit or edit events on OxTalks. The exact freeze dates will be confirmed on the Staff Gateway and via email to identified OxTalks users.

We’re kicking off our first session with a fun paper from Anthony Forster and George Church, speculating on the steps required before Synthetic Biologists can create a cell from scratch. Robbie Oppenheimer will briefly present the paper, some historical context and interesting work since publication, in order to stimulate open discussion about this exciting possibility! It’s anticipated that everyone who comes along will read the paper before arriving 6:30pm, TONIGHT (January 21st), on Level 2 at the Rex Richards Building off South Parks Road. Free drinks and nibbles!
