OxMEND warmly invites you to an evening with Dr Arash Azizi, a leading scholar of Iranian politics and the modern Middle East. The talk will examine the current political landscape in Iran, the dynamics and legacy of recent protests, and the possible trajectories for Iranโs political future and its role in the wider region. In addition to his academic work, Dr Azizi is a prominent public commentator on Iran, regularly engaging with international media and providing real-time analysis through interviews and social media. His work bridges scholarship and public debate, making him one of the most informed and influential voices on contemporary Iranian politics. The event will conclude with a Q&A session with the audience.

Arash Azizi is a writer and historian, a Lecturer at Yale University, and a contributing writer for The Atlantic. He is the author of The Shadow Commander: Soleimani, the US and Iranโs Global Ambitions (Oneworld, 2020) and What Iranians Want: Women, Life, Freedom (Oneworld, 2024). His work focuses on Iranian politics, protest movements, and Iranโs place in regional and global affairs.
