OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.
If staff have any questions about the Oxford Events launch, please contact halo@digital.ox.ac.uk
How does a West that believes in progress cope with instances of evil? How does it reconcile a belief in progress and the existence of suffering? How does it cope and restore hope? Barnett will present an argument linking the relationship between suffering and the creation of international institutions with a cosmopolitan ethos, which are intended to represent the West’s continued faith in progress. But for how long can the West continue to respond to suffering with hope? Has the West reached its end?
Drinks reception to follow the lecture.
