Chris Patten is a former British politician, who served as the 28th and last Governor of Hong Kong until the territory’s handover to China. He was formerly a Conservative MP and is now serving as a crossbench member of the House of Lords. He has built up a wealth of knowledge from the various posts he has served in, ranging from Chairman of the Conservative Party (1990-1992), to EU Commissioner (1999-2004), and Chairman of the BBC Trust (2011-2014). He is currently Chancellor of the University of Oxford, a position he has held since 2003.
