Book Launch ‘Challenging urban narratives in London and Paris. A Discussion of two creative experiments’
The event is a presentation followed by a collective discussion of two creative initiatives which aimed at documenting and exploring experimental interventions in the way the everyday life of multi-storey social housing in London and Paris is represented and understood. Interspersing contributions from Paris and London, Multistories, an multi-format essay part of the Urban Pamphleteer series and The Banlieues Network foreground approaches that develop intersections across visual, ethnographic, literary and historical methods.
With:
Andrew Harris, Senior Lecturer, Co-Director of UCL Urban Laboratory and co-editor, with Nathaniel Telemmaque (King’s College) and Martine Drozdz (MFO, University of Oxford) of Multistories, a visual essay published as part of the Urban Pamphleteer series.
Juliet Carpenter, Director of Research, Global centre on Healthcare and Urbanisation, Kellogg College, University of Oxford and co-founder of the Banlieues Network, a creative programme of literary and artistic curation in Paris.
Gilian Rose, Professor of Human Geography, School of Geography, University of Oxford and editor of Visual Methodologies: An Introduction to Researching with Visual Materials, Sage (2022, fifth edition).
