The Extraordinary Life and Legacy of Sir John C. Kendrew
I received a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Brandeis University and was a Helen Hay Whitney postdoctoral fellow with John Kendrew at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge from 1967-1970. I was a faculty member in the Dept. Biological Chemistry at Harvard Medical School from1972-1986 and the Dept. Cell and Developmental Biology at the Roche Institute of Molecular Biology from 1986-1996 (Chair 1986-1992). Since 1996 I have been Professor in the Dept. Cell, Developmental, and Regenerative Biology (Chair 2000-2007) at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. In spring 2020 Oxford University Press published my biography of John Kendrew, titled “A Place in History
