Comparing regression coefficients between different groups – problem or non-problem?

Dr Jouni Kuha is Associate Professor of Statistics and Research at the London School of Economics, and the former head of the Department of Methodology. He has extensively worked on latent variable models, statistics for cross-national survey and comparison:

His talk will explore a common problem in quantitative analysis, namely the comparison of regression coefficients for different groups and thus across different models. It will provide food for thought on how we conduct these analyses, and thereby stimulate a discussion on the pitfalls of quantitative analyses as well as considering “standard guidance” blindly.

The DSPI MethodsHub seminars showcase the opportunities different methodologies and research traditions offer for the investigation of policies, interventions and evaluation. As such researchers and students are invited to discuss the relationship of their approaches in contrast to the one presented.
