OxTalks is Changing
OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.
If staff have any questions about the Oxford Events launch, please contact halo@digital.ox.ac.uk
How to sell your idea to investors
The art of convincing the audience of the value of scientific pursuits and the accuracy of findings is at the heart of our academic training. How does this translate into the business world? Who is your target audiences and what captures their imagination? Join us to find out from an expert on “pitching”. Tom Hulme, an investor at Google Ventures and a serial entrepreneur in his own right, will share a wealth of experience on this topic with us on the 22nd of February 2017 at 18:00. This is an opportunity to hear it live from a prominent public speaker, popular on many platforms such as TED Talks (www.ted.com/talks/tom_hulme_what_can_we_learn_from_shortcuts) and recognized as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum; featured in WIRED UK’s Top 100 Digital Power Brokers list every year since the list was established and featured in the Evening Standard list of London’s 1000 Most Influential People.
