Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. From now until the launch of Oxford Events, new events cannot be published or edited on OxTalks while all existing records are migrated to the new platform. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period.
From 16th, Oxford Events will launch on a new website: events.ox.ac.uk, and event submissions will resume. You will need a Halo login to submit events. Full details are available on the Staff Gateway.
Sir Barry was a consultant general surgeon at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospital, and served as Serjeant-Surgeon to the Queen from 1991-2001. He also served as President of the Royal College of Surgeons (PRCS) from 1998-2001, and as President of the Royal Society of Medicine from 2002-2004. Sir Barry played a key role in a number of NHS initiatives such as the NHS Modernisation Agency, and investigations including the Bristol Enquiry.
Sir Barry will be travelling to Oxford especially for the event, and will speaking for approximately half an hour, and will then then take questions for half an hour. Whilst Sir Barry was a surgeon, the talk will not be specifically focussed on surgery, and hence the event will appeal greatly to even those with no interest in surgery.
The Oxford Union is a world famous venue for speakers and is located in the city centre just off Cornmarket Street. Whilst Oxford Union events usually require membership to the Union, our event can be attended free of charge by all medical students, doctors and clinical researchers (please bring proof of ID), so be sure to come along for what will no doubt be a fascinating talk and once in a lifetime opportunity to hear from such a distinguished speaker.
