OxTalks is Changing
OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.
If staff have any questions about the Oxford Events launch, please contact halo@digital.ox.ac.uk
Sounds from Brazil (a lecture-recital)
In this lecture-recital, Heloisa Feichas and Rita Medeiros will present an overview of the rich legacy of Brazilian popular songs. In a journey through sinuous melodic lines and complex harmonies, supported by the strength of rythms in genres such as samba, frevo, and choro, the songs reveal colorful sounds and evoke landscapes and scenes from Brazilian life. The recital features icons such as Noel Rosa, Tom Jobim, Edu Lobo, Chico Buarque, Dori Caymmi, Jonny Alf, Guinga, Francis Hime and Gilberto Gil, who will be represented in this panorama in a unique and very rich blend between poetry and music.
