Workshop: Shaping the Future of Internet Governance: Drafting a Resolution for WSIS+2
This workshop is in person only, open to Oxford University members. Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Refreshments will be provided, contact events@oii.ox.ac.uk if you have any dietary requirements.
Following the “Evaluating the Internet Governance Forum in a broader digital governance landscape” talk (www.oii.ox.ac.uk/news-events/events/evaluating-the-internet-governance-forum-in-a-broader-digital-governance-landscape) students will have the opportunity to participate in breakout groups, where they can brainstorm and propose innovative ideas for advancing Internet governance and digital rights. To understand the complexities of WSIS+20 negotiations, students will be asked to draft a Resolution for WSIS+20 representing different voices at the UN General Assembly. They will be assigned roles as delegates representing different regions or stakeholder groups (e.g., G77, Russia, China, EU, US). Each group can present their resolution during the session and defend their position, fostering debate and understanding of diverse perspectives on internet governance.
