1st Annual Halsey Lecture: What is a student? Perspectives from across Europe
The Annual Halsey Lecture will be a lecture series celebrating excellence in sociology and the wider social sciences, named in honour of Professor Albert Henry Halsey, a central figure in the sociology of education.
This year’s speaker will be Rachel Brooks, Professor of Higher Education at the University of Oxford and current President of the British Sociological Association. Professor Brooks will explore how higher education students are conceptualised across six European countries, challenging assumptions of a uniform student experience and highlighting the influence of national context, discipline, institution, and social background.
This event will be followed by a drinks reception. Please register to attend.
